My pots are created by handbuilding from stoneware clay. The pieces are carefully constructed and formed into soft shapes. Surfaces are deliberately textured and marked to enhance the pots’ construction and shape. In particular, the areas where two slabs are joined are often emphasized by their seams. I choose glazes that create a soft surface so that the pot feels satisfying in the hand. They are applied in thin coats so that the glaze emphasizes the markings. I intend for my pots to be used in the everyday traditions of life: drinking your morning coffee, serving food to family and friends and arranging flowers cut from your backyard. These pots add beauty and a sense of occasion and ceremony in their use. My studio is located in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District in the historic Northrup King Building. I also participate in exhibits and art shows and my pots can be found in several regional fine art galleries. Please visit my web site at www.avbpottery.com for specific information.
